An elegant early 19th-century French Empire style walnut sofa, sourced in Lyon, France. Featuring a beautifully proportioned silhouette with a gently reclined upholstered back, gracefully curved arms terminating in carved scrolls, and tapered legs with a central front support. Traditional pegged joinery is visible throughout the frame, reflecting its period construction and craftsmanship. The walnut displays a warm, richly aged patina, with subtle variations in tone and traces of its history preserved throughout. The generously proportioned seat and back are upholstered in deep forest green vinyl with subtle teal undertones, a later addition to the original frame, and finished with decorative brass nailhead trim. The upholstery shows signs of use, including surface creasing, scuffs, and small areas of wear. The walnut frame has been structurally revised, cleaned, and polished with wax, preserving its original character and aged finish.
