A late 18th-century French Louis XVI carved walnut settee, sourced in Loire Valley, France. Crafted in solid walnut, the settee features a long upholstered seat and back framed by the restrained symmetry and classical detailing characteristic of the Louis XVI period. The walnut frame is richly detailed with carved foliate motifs at the upper corners of the backrest and additional floral and foliate carvings above the turned and fluted legs. Molded rails, carved detailing along the curved back supports, and scrolling volute arm terminals further define the frame. Traditional construction is visible throughout, including exposed wooden dowels and pegged joinery, adding to the character and craftsmanship of the piece. The settee is upholstered in celadon green velvet, finished with aged brass nailhead trim following the lines of the back, arms, and seat. The muted green upholstery complements the warm tone and natural patina of the walnut. The settee was structurally revised and is solid and stable. The walnut was cleaned and polished with wax, preserving its warm patina, grain, and age-related character.
