A striking pair of late 19th-century French Louis XVI style carved giltwood pedestal stands, sourced in Provence, France. Both stands have been structurally revised in our workshop, with careful gesso repairs and gilt finish touch-ups to preserve their naturally aged character and patina. Inspired by classical antiquity and the French athénienne form, each pedestal features a circular recessed top supported by three gracefully curved legs, creating an elegant open tripod silhouette. The legs are embellished with carved guilloché detailing and terminate in sculptural lion paw feet resting on concave triangular plinth bases. At the center of each stand, a classical urn-shaped ornament with a pointed finial introduces an additional architectural detail, while the circular upper rims feature delicate carved bead and oval motifs. The warm giltwood finish, refined proportions, and sculptural construction make this pair ideal for flanking a doorway, fireplace, or console, or for displaying decorative objects in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
