Set of Six Early 20th Century French Empire Mahogany Dining Chairs
An elegant set of six early 20th century French Empire-style gondola dining chairs sourced in Provence, France. Hand-crafted from solid mahogany, each chair features the classic barrel-form silhouette with a continuous curved back flowing seamlessly into the arms, a shaped seat rail, and graceful sabre rear legs. The design reflects the enduring influence of the First Empire period, with restrained neoclassical lines that emphasize proportion, comfort, and architectural presence. The chairs have been structurally revised in our restoration workshop to ensure long-term stability. The frames were carefully polished to enhance the natural depth and warmth of the mahogany, and the seats have been newly reupholstered in a rich green striped chenille fabric that provides both softness and durability while complementing the wood tones beautifully. Comfortable, supportive, and visually substantial without feeling heavy, these chairs function equally well as dining seating or as occasional chairs in traditional, neoclassical, or transitional interiors. Structurally sound and ready for everyday use. The wood surfaces retain a warm, naturally aged patina with light character marks consistent with age and use. Overall very good restored condition.
