Mid 20th Century French Louis XVI Style Mahogany Sideboard Buffet with Carrara Marble Top
Sourced in Provence, France, this French Louis XVI style sideboard buffet is crafted from richly figured mahogany and crowned with a substantial Carrara marble top. The elegant façade showcases dramatic bookmatched mahogany veneers framed by fine brass string inlay, fluted pilasters with gilt brass accents, and tapered legs terminating in brass sabots. The restrained Neoclassical design is further enhanced by original brass escutcheons, decorative mounts, and working locks with keys. Behind the four cabinet doors is a spacious interior designed for practical storage, featuring a large central compartment, side cabinets with shelving, and a pair of birdseye maple veneered drawers with dovetail construction and brass ring pulls. The beautifully finished interior reflects the same level of craftsmanship found throughout the exterior. Professionally restored in our workshop, the sideboard has been structurally restored, the finish has been refreshed, and the wood has been polished with a coat of wax to enhance the rich color and natural figure of the mahogany while preserving its character.
