Mid-19th Century French Louis XIII Style Oak Library Table with Barley Twist Legs
A mid-19th century French Louis XIII style library table, crafted from solid oak and sourced in Provence, France. The table has been structurally revised and waxed in-house, preserving its warm honey-brown tones, pronounced oak grain, and naturally aged patina. The elongated rectangular plank top features molded edges above two spacious drawers, each fitted with decorative iron drop pulls and lined in green felt. Traditional dovetail joinery is visible along the drawer construction, while the surrounding apron features recessed panels and geometric detailing. The reverse is similarly finished, allowing the table to be positioned freely within a room. The architectural base is supported by six boldly turned barley twist legs, connected by an elaborate arrangement of spiral-turned stretchers. Hand-carved floral rosettes decorate the square joining blocks, complemented by turned finials and rounded feet. The intricate woodturning, decorative carving, and balanced proportions reflect the distinctive craftsmanship of the French Louis XIII revival style. With its generous proportions and finished detailing on all sides, the table offers versatility as a library table, writing table, freestanding kitchen island, or statement center table. Its richly detailed construction brings architectural character to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
