Sourced in Lyon, France, this set of ten late 19th-century Louis XVI dining chairs is crafted from fruitwood and showcases the clean neoclassical lines associated with the Louis XVI period. The restrained silhouette is enhanced by square corner blocks with carved roundel details, introducing a subtle Directoire influence to the classic Louis XVI form. Fluted tapered legs and rectilinear frames further emphasize the elegant architectural character of the design. The chairs have been structurally restored to ensure they are solid and stable. The fruitwood has been gently cleaned and polished with wax, preserving the natural patina while enhancing the warmth and character of the wood. The upholstery has been completely redone in an olive green Kravet chenille. The seats and backs are finished with hand-applied speckled brass nailhead trim, providing a tailored and refined appearance while complementing the warm tones of the fruitwood frames. Comfortable and versatile, these chairs are equally suited to formal dining rooms and relaxed interiors, offering a timeless French aesthetic with understated sophistication.
