Antique French Provincial Oak Rush Seat Dining Chairs - Set of 6
Antique set of six French Provincial oak dining chairs sourced in Provence, France, dating to 19th century. The chairs feature classic ladder-back forms with integrated hand-woven rush back panels and arched crest rails, supported by robust square legs with block-and-baluster turning and turned stretchers. The seats retain their traditional four-way star rush weave, executed with tight, even tension and strong craftsmanship. Each chair has been structurally revised in our design studio, with joints tightened and frames stabilized to ensure proper pitch, comfort, and long-term usability. The oak frames have been gently cleaned, polished, and waxed to preserve the original surface while enhancing the natural warmth and depth of the wood. The rush seats and backs have been carefully cleaned and shellacked to reinforce the fibers and extend longevity, while maintaining their authentic patina. A cohesive and well-matched set, these chairs exemplify honest French Provincial craftsmanship, offering both historical integrity and practical functionality suitable for everyday dining use.
