Set of Eight 19th Century French Napoléon III Mahogany Dining Chairs
An elegant set of eight French Napoléon III dining chairs sourced in Provence, France, dating to the mid-to-late 19th century. Hand-crafted from solid mahogany, the chairs feature tall architectural backs crowned by carved floral crest rails, original handwoven cane backs and seats, and substantial seat rails with carved rosette corner blocks. The turned and stop-fluted front legs taper to baluster-form feet, while the rear legs are gently splayed for stability — a classic Second Empire profile. Each chair has been structurally revised in our restoration workshop and the wood has been polished and waxed, revealing a warm, rich patina. The frames are solid, stable, and ready for everyday use. Condition is very good antique condition. The original cane remains intact overall, with a small imperfection on one back panel consistent with age and use. Minor surface wear and tonal variation are present throughout.
