A set of twelve late 19th-century French Louis XV style Provincial dining chairs, sourced in Lyon, France. The chairs have undergone structural revisions in our restoration workshop, with their painted frames carefully cleaned and waxed to preserve the character of the existing finish. Each chair features a gracefully shaped cane back and woven cane seat, framed by carved floral motifs along the crest rail, serpentine seat apron, and cabriole legs. The carved details are highlighted in soft golden tones against a warm ivory-painted finish. Curved H-form stretchers connect the legs, providing additional support while complementing the flowing silhouette. The painted surfaces reveal layers of earlier finishes, with natural wear, subtle variations in color, and areas of exposed wood contributing to their characterful appearance. Remnants of an earlier green-painted finish remain visible on the reverse of several cane backs, offering a glimpse into the chairs' decorative history. The generous set of twelve is particularly well suited for a large dining table, bringing a sense of French country elegance to both traditional and contemporary interiors. The chairs retain their original cane seats and backs, with some sagging and localized wear to the cane, along with age-related wear, paint losses.
