Pair of 1930s French Art Deco Oak Lounge Chairs in Blue Striped Fabric

Striking pair of French Art Deco lounge chairs dating to the 1930s and sourced in Provence, France. Sculptural and architectural in form, the chairs feature substantial oak frames with broad curved armrests, stepped geometric detailing, faceted front legs, and fully upholstered backs and sides. The chairs have been structurally revised and restored, with the warm oak frames cleaned and polished with wax to preserve the natural character and depth of the grain. The upholstery has been completely redone, including the seats, springs, and new padding throughout. The chairs are newly upholstered in a textured cotton fabric with woven blue stripes over a warm off-white ground. The fabric has also been treated with Scotchgard for added protection against everyday stains and spills. The striped textile is carried through a series of tailored details that emphasize the architecture of the chairs. Double piping cut on the bias follows the sweeping line beneath the oak arms, while single piping defines the seats and upholstered panels. Along the lower edge, a narrow welt band uses the blue stripe as a graphic accent against the oak frame.
