Mid-19th Century French Provincial Walnut Farmhouse Dining Table with Drawers, Provence
A charming mid-19th century French Provincial farmhouse dining table, sourced in Provence and structurally revised in our workshop for stability and daily use. Hand-crafted in solid walnut, the table features a plank top with breadboard ends, showcasing natural grain variation, knots, and age-related movement that give the surface a rich, time-developed character. The tone is warm and layered, with subtle variation across the boards that reflects both material quality and age. The base is defined by turned legs joined by an H-form stretcher with a central support, creating a grounded, architectural presence while ensuring long-term stability. The proportions are generous yet restrained, allowing the piece to sit comfortably in both traditional and more minimal interiors. Two integrated drawers, positioned at each end, add a functional element and reinforce its original use as a working farmhouse or refectory table. The construction reflects traditional provincial craftsmanship, with details that suggest an earlier form while maintaining the usability expected of later 19th century pieces. Well-scaled for daily use, the table accommodates six comfortably, with the ability to seat up to eight depending on chair selection.
