Sourced in Provence, France, this mid-19th century Louis Philippe commode is hand crafted in walnut and distinguished by its warm tone and beautifully varied natural grain. The restrained silhouette is defined by a molded rectangular top with clipped front corners, subtle molding, and darker walnut details that frame the façade and emphasize the architectural lines of the piece. It features four hand-dovetailed drawers, with three upper drawers above a deeper lower drawer, providing generous storage. The commode rests on substantial stepped feet, while the paneled sides display particularly attractive figuring in the walnut. Structurally restored, the commode is solid and stable. The walnut has been cleaned and polished with wax, preserving its natural patina and antique character. A versatile addition to a bedroom, entryway, dressing area, or living room.
