A late 19th century French Provincial oak farmhouse table, sourced in Provence, France. The table features a rectangular plank top with breadboard ends, displaying pronounced grain, knots and the natural character of the wood. The base is distinguished by a scalloped apron extending along all four sides, supported by four turned legs terminating in rounded ball feet. The legs are joined by an H-form stretcher, while pegged joinery and visible construction details contribute to the table’s traditional French country character. The oak has developed a warm, rich patina with tonal variation throughout, particularly around the knots and grain of the plank top. With its narrow 26.5-inch depth, the table works well as a dining or breakfast table, kitchen table, writing table, or console. The table has been structurally revised, cleaned and polished with wax and is solid and stable. The wood retains age-related wear, including scratches, marks, old repairs, minor separations, filled areas and surface imperfections consistent with its age and history.
