Sourced in Provence, France, this pair of late 19th French provincial oak benches reflects traditional rural craftsmanship, with a straightforward, functional presence. Crafted from solid oak, the tops are constructed from long, narrow planks showing a well-developed patina, visible grain variation, softened edges, and age-related wear throughout. Each bench has been structurally revised in our workshop to ensure it is solid and stable for daily use. The wood has been carefully cleaned and finished with a hand-applied wax, preserving the original patina and natural tone of the oak. The surfaces have a natural depth and warmth, with minor separations, historic markings, and irregularities consistent with age and traditional hand construction. These elements contribute to their authentic, timeworn character while remaining structurally sound. The bases feature turned oak legs connected by a continuous H-form stretcher, providing stability and a grounded, architectural feel. Pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery is visible at the leg connections, reinforcing their traditional hand-built construction. Well suited for use as dining benches, hallway seating, or accent pieces, these benches carry a practical, lived-in character that integrates easily into both traditional and more relaxed interiors.
