Late 19th Century French Henri II Oak Dining Chairs with Cane Seats - Set of 10
A set of ten late 19th-century French Henri II style dining chairs, sourced in Provence, France. The chairs have been structurally revised in our restoration workshop and carefully waxed to preserve their warm brown finish and naturally aged patina. Reflecting the Renaissance Revival influence of the Henri II style, each chair features a distinctive spindle back with a gently curved crest rail, a row of finely turned baluster spindles, and decorative finials. The oak frames are detailed with fluted front legs, turned feet, square block joints, and lower stretchers that provide additional support. The original handwoven cane seats introduce a lighter texture against the rich wood tones. With their architectural silhouettes and restrained ornamentation, these chairs work beautifully around an antique farmhouse or refectory table, while also providing an interesting contrast to more contemporary dining interiors. The complete set of ten offers a cohesive arrangement for a larger dining room. In good antique condition with age-appropriate wear and patina. Original cane seats show minor wear, including one small break in the weaving.
