Late 18th Century English Oak Dresser Base or Server
Late 18th century English oak dresser base, sourced in Lyon, France, and dating to circa 1780. Crafted from solid oak, the piece features a thick plank top above two generously proportioned drawers with geometric molded fronts retaining brass drop pulls and matching escutcheons. It stands on turned front legs joined by a shaped stretcher, with paneled sides and rear. The rich, dark patina has developed beautifully over time, highlighting the natural grain, hand-worked surfaces, and honest wear accumulated through generations of use. The two spacious drawers provide ample concealed storage, making the piece as practical today as it is visually striking. Today, it serves equally well as a server, console, or sideboard, bringing centuries of character and craftsmanship to both traditional and contemporary interiors. Professionally cleaned and structurally restored for stability while preserving its original character and aged patina. Age-related wear, surface checking, shrinkage splits, old repairs, and imperfections throughout are consistent with age and use.
