A French Louis XVI style bureau plat, crafted from solid maple and sourced in Provence, France. The rectangular top is framed with a molded and beveled edge and refinished to a rich dark brown tone that brings out the grain and depth of the wood. The design features an open kneehole front, with drawers positioned along both sides: two drawer fronts per side, of which the outer drawers are functional and the inner panels are decorative. The reverse is finished with a full arrangement of false drawers, allowing the desk to stand elegantly in the center of a room. Brass ring pulls and sabots highlight the neoclassical form, while shaped corner brackets lend a subtle architectural detail. We have structurally restored the piece, ensuring it is strong and stable, and refinished the surface in a rich dark brown finish. The two functional side drawers open smoothly, providing convenient storage for writing implements or desk accessories. A versatile and timeless bureau plat, ideal as a writing desk, library table, or console, well suited for both traditional and modern interiors.
