Early 20th Century English Regency Revival Leather Top Center Table
Sourced in Provence, France, this early 20th-century Regency Revival center table draws inspiration from the refined elegance of the English Regency period. Crafted from mahogany, it features its original hand-tooled leather top with gilt decorative borders and a central gilt motif. The richly patinated leather has developed character over decades of use, creating a distinctive surface that beautifully complements the warmth of the mahogany. The off-round top is framed by a molded edge and rests above a frieze accented with decorative faux drawer fronts and brass ring pulls. A finely carved fluted urn-form pedestal supports the top, terminating in four graceful sabre legs fitted with their original brass lion's paw caps. Our workshop has structurally restored the table for stability and professionally refinished the mahogany, enhancing the richness of the wood while preserving its antique character. The original leather top has been retained and displays age-related wear, scratches, ink marks, discoloration, and surface losses consistent with its age and history, adding authenticity and charm to the piece. An elegant and versatile table that works beautifully as a center table, library table, or foyer table, bringing timeless Regency design to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
