An early 19th-century French Provincial farmhouse refectory table of exceptional length, sourced in Provence, France. Measuring nearly 10 feet long, the table features a narrow rectangular plank top supported by square legs, broad aprons, and a continuous lower stretcher with a central support. The richly patinated surface retains the character of generations of use, with visible plank joints, wooden pegs, and an extensive collection of historic marks and scratches. Carved initials and numerals along the legs and aprons offer a particularly distinctive detail, while the simple, substantial construction reflects the utilitarian traditions of French rural furniture. With its generous length, restrained proportions, and remarkably preserved aged surface, the table is equally suited to a dining room or a large communal setting. Structurally restored, solid and stable, cleaned and polished with wax while preserving its historic patina.
