Early 19th Century French Provincial Louis XV Style Oak Buffet with Marble Top
An early 19th-century French Provincial oak buffet in the Louis XV style, featuring a richly patinated dark wood finish and a thick, beautifully figured marble top. The piece has been structurally revised and waxed by our restoration team, preserving its original character and natural patina. The buffet features two paneled doors with gracefully arched moldings, decorative metal escutcheons, and traditional iron hinges. A single drawer above the cabinet features dovetail joinery and a metal pull. The key serves as a decorative pull for opening the cabinet doors. The spacious interior provides practical storage with a full-width wooden shelf. Traditional construction details include visible wooden pegs, paneled sides and back, and a molded plinth base. The thick, dark marble top displays distinctive fossil-like markings and contrasting white and golden veining, complementing the rustic character of the oak. With its relatively shallow depth, the buffet is particularly well suited for an entryway, dining room, or living space, offering functional storage without occupying excessive floor space. Its combination of French country character and Louis XV influences allows it to complement both traditional and contemporary interiors. The piece retains a rich, characterful patina with age-related wear, surface marks, and natural variations throughout the wood and marble.
