Early 19th Century French Empire Mahogany Console W/ Dark Gray Granite Top
An early 19th century French Empire console table, sourced in Provence. The piece is constructed in solid mahogany with a rectangular dark grey granite top resting above a single apron drawer. The drawer front is veneered in figured mahogany, arranged in a bookmatched pattern that highlights the natural grain. The table stands on four columnar mahogany legs with ring moldings, each raised on square plinth bases, giving the form architectural balance and presence. The console has been structurally revised for stability. The mahogany shows an even, warm patina with age marks and light surface wear consistent with nearly two centuries of use. The veneered apron retains natural character, and the granite top remains in very good condition.
