An exquisite set of eight late 19th century French country dining chairs in Louis XVI style, sourced in Provence. Crafted in solid walnut, each chair features a tall ladder-back with three shaped horizontal splats and turned finials crowning the posts. The frames have been structurally revised and newly refinished in a deep brown tone. The new finish enhances the depth of the walnut and highlights the character of the aged wood. Hand-carved aprons introduce subtle ornament, while tapered, fluted legs are united by turned stretchers and finish in classic toupie feet. Each chair retains its original hand-woven rush seat in a beautifully aged tan hue, lending warmth and texture to the crisp neoclassical lines.
