Early 19th Century Spanish Baroque Carved Mixed Wood Writing Desk
An extraordinary early 19th-century Spanish Baroque writing desk sourced from Provence, France. The table features exquisite and intricate hand-carved floral motifs throughout the entire frame. It is constructed with a thick, 5.43-foot-long rectangular plank top made from solid walnut, showcasing a dark, naturally aged patina full of character. The base of the table is made from solid carved oak and has been structurally restored for stability. The front includes three large storage drawers, each built with dovetail joints and finished with metal pulls. The apron clearance measures 23.5". The desk is raised on hand-carved tapered legs, conjoined with an H-shaped trestle stretcher. Solid and stable, this piece exemplifies excellent joinery and traditional Spanish Baroque craftsmanship.
