1930s French Art Deco Walnut Chest of Drawers

French Art Deco walnut chest of drawers, dating to the 1930s and sourced in Provence, France. The rectangular form features three drawers veneered in richly figured, bookmatched walnut, creating bold symmetrical grain patterns. Each drawer is fitted with round brass pulls that complement the warmth of the wood. The dresser is raised on stylized bracket feet with gilt-bronze sabots, a detail often associated with Jules Leleu’s work. Subtle bronze ribbon and floral mounts accent the upper corners, adding refinement to the clean, geometric lines of the piece. The drawers are constructed with dovetail joinery and retain their original interiors. Our workshop has structurally revised the chest, ensuring it is stable and functional, while the walnut surfaces have been gently polished to preserve the natural patina and depth of tone. A versatile commode in the taste of Jules Leleu, offering the restrained elegance of French Art Deco design with practical storage, ideal for both traditional and modern settings.
