An exceptional French Art Deco sideboard, circa 1930, sourced in Paris and crafted from richly figured rosewood veneer over oak with its original fossil black marble top. Monumental yet elegantly restrained, the cabinet embodies the refined craftsmanship and sophisticated proportions that define the finest French decorative arts of the Art Deco period. Its striking façade is centered by a deeply recessed cabinet framed with sculptural rounded moldings, flanked by gracefully curved doors that soften its architectural form. Original gilt-bronze mounts, finely cast escutcheons, and beautifully preserved hardware provide a refined contrast to the warmth of the rosewood, while the beautifully matched veneer displays remarkable depth and movement throughout. The original fossil black marble top, distinguished by dramatic prehistoric marine fossil inclusions, provides a luxurious finishing touch and creates a striking contrast against the rich wood below. Raised on sculpted bracket feet fitted with brass sabots, the cabinet possesses an elegant yet commanding presence. The thoughtfully designed interior features three oak drawers, adjustable shelving, and generous concealed storage, making it equally suited as a dining room sideboard, library cabinet, or statement credenza. Professionally restored for structural integrity and refinished by our restoration team while preserving the integrity of its original materials. Retains one original key with a working lock; the second lock mechanism has been removed. A superb example of high-quality French Art Deco cabinetmaking, distinguished by exceptional materials, timeless design, and remarkable craftsmanship.
