Antique French Louis XVI Style Rosewood Dining Table with Floral Inlay
A refined late-19th-century French Louis XVI style dining table sourced in Provence. The oval top is beautifully crafted with chevron-laid rosewood veneer and a central floral marquetry medallion composed of multiple fruitwood and hardwood species. The detailing is crisp and balanced, and a delicately inlaid perimeter band completes the top with elegant precision. We fully restored the piece in our New York workshop, structurally revising the frame, tightening all joinery, and refinishing the surface to bring out the natural depth and movement of the rosewood. The restoration preserves the original marquetry while giving the table the stability and clarity expected for modern use. The apron is finished in warm rosewood with gilt-bronze rosettes and a continuous ormolu trim. Tapered, fluted legs support the piece, each retaining its original gilt-bronze mounts and classical neoclassical accents typical of the Louis XVI revival. This is a sophisticated and versatile table—ideal as a dining table, library table, or statement center table—offering both beauty and structural integrity after its full revision.
