A handsome late 19th century French writing desk in the Louis XVI style, sourced in Provence, France. Hand-crafted in mahogany, the desk features a rectangular top inset with gilt-tooled golden tan leather writing surfaces and two pull-out extensions, offering additional workspace. The case is fitted with five drawers, each with its original brass escutcheons and working keys. The desk is raised on elegant fluted tapering legs ending in brass sabots, a signature Louis XVI design element. The warm, rich finish highlights the natural grain of the wood, balancing refinement with practicality. Structurally revised and carefully refinished, the desk is sturdy and fully functional while preserving its antique character. The generous proportions and multiple drawers make it ideal for use as both a writing desk and a statement piece in a study or office.
