A lovely late 19th-century chess table made in the style of Louis XVI, sourced from Provence, France. Beautifully hand-crafted from solid oak wood constructed with a framed rectangular top. The top features a preserved walnut and oak inlaid chessboard. The wood showcases a naturally aged patina with a rich brown color and grains. The table is fronted with one storage drawer constructed with dovetail joints and a metal pull. The table is raised on hand-carved fluted legs decorated with carved rosettes on the corners. The legs are conjoined by an intricately hand-carved H-shaped trestle constructed with exposed wooden dowels. Solid and stable with excellent joinery and craftsmanship with a Traditional French Louis XVI profile.
