Early 19th Century French Directoire Walnut Settee in Seaglass Fabric

An elegant early 19th-century French Directoire style settee, sourced from Provence, France. Beautifully hand-crafted from solid walnut, it showcases a naturally aged, characterful patina in a rich dark brown tone. The handsome square-shaped back features scroll ends decorated with floral carvings, reflecting the refined detailing of the Neoclassical period. The settee has been structurally restored for stability and newly reupholstered in a lovely light blue/seaglass woven fabric with a herringbone pattern, which contrasts beautifully with the dark wood. The upholstery is clean-finished with matching double piping trim. Supported by hand-carved, tapered front legs with floral carvings and four saber back legs—eight legs total for added stability. Solid and stable with excellent joinery and craftsmanship, this piece embodies the timeless elegance of the French Directoire style.
