An exceptional set of six late 19th-century French dining chairs in the timeless Louis XVI style, sourced directly from Provence, France. Expertly handcrafted from solid maple, each chair features intricately carved square-shaped slat backs. Structurally restored and gently refinished, the set showcases a rich medium-to-dark brown tone that highlights the natural grain of the wood. The chairs are solid and stable, with excellent joinery throughout. All six retain their original cane seats, which are in excellent condition and display a warm tan color. The front legs are gracefully tapered and fluted, ending in classic toupie feet and decorated with finely hand-carved rosettes at the corners, iconic details of the Louis XVI style. Saber-shaped back legs add to the refined silhouette and balanced proportions. This elegant set blends functionality with timeless French craftsmanship, making it a striking addition to any dining space.
