An exquisite set of six French Art Deco dining chairs from the 1930s, sourced in Provence. The chairs present elegant maple frames with refined tapering legs and sculpted backs that curve in a graceful shield-like form, giving the set both stature and fluidity. They have been fully restored, including structural reinforcement, refinishing of the maple, and complete reupholstery. The seats and front backs are enveloped in sumptuous sage green Scalamandré velvet, prized for its richness of tone and soft luster. The reverse sides are finished in an off-white and sage green striped fabric, tailored with precision to accentuate the architectural lines of the frame. This sophisticated pairing of velvet and stripes lends the chairs a sense of drama and grandeur - plush and opulent from the front, crisp and tailored from behind. A superb example of French Art Deco craftsmanship, these chairs bring both presence and versatility, equally at home in a refined dining room or as statement pieces within a modern interior.
