This piece features beautifully hand-wrought scrollwork with pronounced curves, tall backrests, and a richly detailed central medallion. The floral crest includes a deeply cast fruit and foliate motif, emblematic of the romantic revival aesthetic of the Second Empire. The entire frame shows a consistent, naturally oxidized surface in warm rust tones with remnants of its original green paint peeking through along the edges—lending it an authentic timeworn character. The daybed includes a full iron grid base and rests on casters, with three appearing to be original and one later replacement.The frame folds flat for ease of transport or storage. Whether styled simply with linen cushions and a bolster pillow or reimagined for indoor or garden seating, it makes a bold and elegant statement.
