Vintage Set of 4 French Louis XVI Painted Dining Chairs - Signed J.P. Ehalt
A traditional set of four painted hand-cut floral velvet upholstery dining chairs made in the style of French Louis XVI. The chairs were made by the well-renowned furniture maker from Strasbourg, France, J.P. Ehalt. Each chair has a stamp under the seats. The chairs feature a hand-molded frame finished in a light creamy antique white lacquer with a naturally aged patina with some distressed areas having gold leaf trim. The chairs are upholstered in beige hand-cut floral velvet cleaned finished with brass tack nailhead trim. The seats are supported by elegant tapered, fluted legs ending with toupie feet typical for Louis XVI chairs. The front legs are also decorated with carved rosettes on the corners. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship with a classic French silhouette and beautiful color combination.
