Monumental 19th-century country French farmhouse dough bin or petrin table from Provence, France. Beautifully handcrafted from solid oak featuring 4.9 feet long rectangular plank top with breadboard ends constructed with tenon and mortise joints. The large 1" thick plank top slides left and right to reveal a spacious storage bin. This type of storage petrin style table was used to make the bread dough mix in the bin, then removed and kneaded on the tabletop. The top showcases a naturally distressed aged warm patina full of character. The wood showcases beautiful oak grains and warm honey color. The table is supported by a heavy stand with a decorative shaped apron and turned tapered legs conjoined by an H-shaped trestle. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship with a traditional French provincial profile. Makes a great kitchen table or display table.
