Antique Country French Provincial Farmhouse Walnut Dough Table or Petrin Kitchen Table

Early 1900s country French farmhouse dough bin or petrin baking table from Provence, France. Beautifully handcrafted from solid walnut featuring 4.9 feet long rectangular plank top with breadboard ends constructed with tenon and mortise joints. The large plank top opens to reveal a large storage bin. The top has built in stoppers to keep the table still when using it. This type of storage petrin style table was used to make the bread dough mix in the bin, then removed and kneaded on the tabletop. The top was also used to iron clothes. Some bakers in old Frace still use the same type of dough tables to make bread. The top showcases a naturally distressed aged faded patina full of character. The wood showcases beautiful walnut grains and warm honey color. The table is supported by hand-carved tapered legs constructed with exposed wooden dowels. Solid and stable with excellent joinery and craftsmanship with a Traditional French provincial profile.

- Origin: Provence, France
