Mid-19th-century country French farmhouse dough bin or petrin baking table from Provence, France. Beautifully handcrafted from solid oak featuring 4.85 feet-long rectangular plank top. The top slides left to right to reveal a spacious storage bin once used to make the bread dough mix then removed and kneaded on the tabletop. The top was also used to iron clothes. Some bakers in old Frace still use the same type of dough tables to make bread. The top showcases a naturally distressed aged patina full of character. The wood showcases beautiful oak grains and rich brown color. The dough bin is supposed by a hand-carved base with a shelf and turned legs constructed with exposed wooden dowels. Solid and stable with excellent joinery and craftsmanship with a Traditional French provincial profile.
