19th Century Country French Louis XV Style Provincial Walnut Writing Desk- Stamped
Magnificent late-19th-century country French writing table or desk stamped "Fabrique de Meubles Sieges - Tentures Bonal Béziers" with carved CB initials. Made in the grand French Louis XV taste. Beautifully hand-crafted from solid walnut constructed with 5.6 feet long rectangular top with rounded corners and beveled edge. The top has a beautiful composition of twenty-one framed squares showcasing a naturally aged patina on the finish with beautiful walnut grains and rich brown color. The writing table is cased with five storage drawers constructed with dovetail joins. The top three drawers have working locks with two keys. The bottom two drawers have metal escutcheons hardware and pull. Supported by hand-carved cabriole legs ending with scrolled toes typical for the Louis XV style. The back of the desk showcases a beautiful, decorative carved composition of a floral bouquet. Solid and stable with excellent joinery and craftsmanship and a Classic French Louis XV country profile.
